Choosing how a gallery looks

Every gallery used to look the same. There are now four looks to choose between — set one as your studio’s default and it applies to everything you deliver, or change a single wedding when it wants something different.

The four

Each is a finished design rather than a starting point. They differ in colour, typography, spacing and the weight of the couple’s names — not in what the page contains or how it works.

  • Cinematic — dark and full-bleed. This is the design Knotflix has always had, now with a name, and it is what every gallery uses until you choose otherwise.
  • Editorial — light and airy with wide margins, closer to a printed spread than a screen.
  • Noir — near-black and minimal, on the argument that nothing should compete with the work.
  • Warm — cream and rounded, the friendliest of the four.

Setting one

Your studio default lives in Settings, under Portfolio. Change it and every gallery that has not been given its own look follows, including ones you delivered months ago — which is worth knowing before you change it on a Friday.

A single wedding is changed from that wedding’s own template picker. Each look has a preview link that opens this couple’s real gallery wearing it, so you are judging the actual films and photographs rather than a sample.

  • A wedding set to Studio default is not the same as a wedding set to Cinematic. The first follows you if you change your house style later; the second stays where it is.
  • Changing a look is instant and changes nothing else — same films, same photographs, same link, same password if you set one.
  • The look reaches the password screen and the expiry screen too, not just the gallery. That matters because those are sometimes the first thing a couple sees.

What it does not do

This is a choice between four designs, not a theme builder, and it is better to know that now than to go looking for the colour picker.

  • There are no custom colours, no font choices and no layout changes. Your logo and your backdrop are the parts that carry your studio’s identity, and those were always yours to set.
  • It does not change your public portfolio page or the public wedding pages — only the couple’s gallery.
  • Couples cannot change it. The gallery is your deliverable, and what it looks like is your decision rather than theirs.

Common questions

Will changing my default look change galleries I have already delivered?

Yes, for any wedding still set to Studio default — which is all of them until you start choosing per wedding. The films, photographs and links are untouched; only the look changes.

Can I see a look on a real wedding before committing?

Yes. Each template has a preview link that opens that couple’s actual gallery in the chosen look. It changes nothing and nobody else sees it.

Which look is the one my galleries have now?

Cinematic. It is the original design, and every gallery is on it until you pick something else.

Can a couple choose their own?

No. The gallery is what you deliver, and its look is part of that.

Does the look affect video quality or downloads?

Not at all. Playback is 1080p HD and full-resolution downloads are unchanged whichever look you choose.
